Probably as it’s one down from this one. Well it seems our efforts are all for not. The radio station Fuel has changed formats mid contest and ceased to be, thus ending the contest. They’re some kind of “All Hits” station now, which means we probably won’t be played there anytime soon (We’re just a shocked as you!).
We’ll hit the stage about 9 or 10 ish. Come-on Down! Remember Dicken’s Pub Thursday, July 16th.
Our show at the Beggar last week with Scorched Banditos was cool as all get out. Thanks to all the friends family and random fans who came out. The Banditos for a kick ass set and the Beggar crew as always for hosting!
Thanks to 3 West TV.ca for streaming the show live across the inter-tubes-net-dot-webber… anyways you can check out the show > HERE < there’s a brief interview at the end of the set if any one is interested. If you’re not, don’t worry you’re not really missing anything cool or shockingly intelegent. We don’t cure the common cold or give the formula for turning lead into gold or anything like that.
Fuel 90.3 Calgary is running an indipendant music contest and we’ve entered. One of the entry requirements was a video submittal that showed the band playing.
So we thought (and it hurt).
We all know how to play (with instruments).
So we made a few phone calls (on telephones).
Got a camera (go Newtons!).
Found a couple of camera ladies (Sammy! and Nat!).
Picked a song, we’ve got like 30 and counting (Yay West Bound Canadiana).
Played (the shit out of it!).
Recorded the audio and video on our super-audiotastic-megalo-steriophonic-Mac-o-power-record-o-tron (in our sexy orange secret basement jam studio of doom, sex and power).
We then strapped our drummer and a monkey (because all good things need a monkey) to the super-audiotastic-megalo-steriophonic-Mac-o-power-record-o-tron until they massaged it all into a supreme indie master work (go Sean and the monkey!).
Our gig at the Underground on Saturday the 9th was fun if nothing else. The Warehouse basement be a hard mistress to fill. The folks who were in attendance seemed to enjoy themselves, thanks for the support
And for anyone who knows of a little site called Garageband.com we have one of our songs (Page 73) up there that has received quite a few accolades.

Fuck Metallica in their funny ears! Sorry, the colour change has nothing to do with the afore noted band or the song of which the title mocks. It’s been 2 years under the oppressive might of the Octobrainy blackness, so we thought time for a change and here it is like it or lump it. Same great G.B. flavour, now new and improved with 87.235% less dark.
Oh and don’t forget APRIL 24TH we be funkin’ with our friends at the Beggar… BE THERE!
At the Blind Beggar. Come on down to see we 5 GB boys. We promise to Funk you up proper on Valentines Day 2009. Come solo, bring a date, bring three or six dates the more the merrier!
Remember you’ll leave “Proper funked!”
Ps. Tom will buy a beer for the first person who can explain what “Proper funked!” is a reference to. Mmmm free beer contest!
We had a fantastic time with all in attendance at the Beggar on Friday night. Specail thanks to the guys from Colin Decker Free Fall for putting on a freaking great show, very entertaining. If you have yet to see CDFF, go to their next gig!!!! DO IT!!!!
We the G.B. boys had a blast. It was a high energy show for us & we’re very happy with both sets. Thanks to all the boys and girls who got up to shake a bit of booty with us… we totaly dig it when you guys get into it as much as we do.
